How to Use This Tool — Q&A

Does this upload my photos anywhere?

No. Every conversion happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API — your images never leave your device or touch a server.

What's a good quality setting?

80% is a strong default that's visually near-identical to the original for most photos while cutting file size significantly. Drop to 60-70% for web thumbnails, or push toward 95%+ only when you need maximum fidelity.

Can I convert PNGs with transparency?

Yes, but JPG doesn't support transparency — transparent areas will be filled with white in the output. If you need to keep transparency, use the Image Compressor tool instead and keep PNG or WebP as the output format.

Why convert to JPG instead of keeping the original format?

JPG's lossy compression is highly efficient for photos and complex images, typically producing much smaller files than PNG for the same visual content. It's the standard choice when file size matters more than pixel-perfect accuracy or transparency.

Is there a file size or count limit?

Files up to 50 MB each are supported, with multiple files processed in one batch. Very large batches depend on your device's available memory since everything is processed locally.
