No. Compression happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API — your images never leave your device or touch a server.
What's a good quality setting?
75% is a strong default that's visually near-identical to the original for most photos while noticeably cutting file size. Drop to 50-60% for web thumbnails, or push toward 90%+ when fidelity matters most.
Can I compress PNG files?
Yes — PNG files are supported both as input and as a forced output format. Note that PNG is lossless, so the quality slider has less effect on PNG output than it does on JPEG or WebP.
Why is WebP recommended?
WebP typically produces smaller files than JPEG or PNG at equivalent visual quality and supports transparency, making it a strong default for web use — though it's slightly less universally supported by very old software.
Is there a file size or count limit?
Files up to 50 MB each are supported, with multiple files processed in one batch. Very large batches depend on your device's available memory since everything is processed locally.
